Under the Traffic Act Bahamas, there are five basic types of public transport vehicles.
1. Taxis
2. Car Tour
3. Car livery

(C) bus Utilities Sector
Taxis
Taxis are licensed for a maximum 12 people and may hire layers anywhere in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Taxis can be cars or minibuses and operating in Grand Bahama and New Providence are required to have working meters. Rates are set by the Government of the Bahamas. The current fee levels are New Providence, Grand Bahama and the Family Islands was adopted in July 2001.
General rate: one to two passengers, the Frist mile 4.1 is $ 3.00. Each 1 / 4 of a mile is 40 cents. additional passenger after the first two pay $ 3 per person. No charge for accompanied children under the age of five Rates (5) Zone: The zone rates can be applied to the standard routes on demand. These rates are also fixed by the Government of the Bahamas. A toll bridge route is added to Paradise Island and is usually $ 1 – $ 2 depending on the size of vechicle that travels in.
Waiting Position:

Car Tour
Like taxis, tour coaches are limited to 12 passengers and can be car or minibus. Omni Buss
There are three categories Omni Buses
(A) Schedule of public service Omni bus – commonly called Jitneys, they are allowed to carry two different rates points on a set route. Fares range between $ 1.00 – $ 2.00. Retirees, pensioners and the disabled pay 50 cents. Children under 3 free
(B) Private Calendar Omni bus – used primarily for transportation of groups like the hotel staff, school children, present groups, etc, moving from different places in the schedules.
(C) Private Chartered Omni bus – used for transporting groups of the letter on sight seeing tours agreements charter from time to time instead of Car Tour
