Looking for the perfect program for travel and leisure destination, Try Cat Island

Choosing a vacation destination for you and your family can be difficult. Sure, you could go to the same boring places that all else failed, I'm talking about Disney World or the Grand Canyon or on a cruise, but why not mix it with something a original little off the beaten path?

Whenever I think of a place to go on holiday I have two requirements must be relaxed and have to be sunny, (and if can be released into a sandy beach or two is even better).

The problem is I do not want to go to spas as the whole world does. That's why we recommend Cat Island.

Many people have not even heard of it but it is the sixth island in the Bahamas. Many people believe that is the most beautiful and certainly the most virgin all the many islands in the Bahamas. It is basically located southeast of Eleuthera and slightly to the north east of Long Island.

When choosing a holiday, too is important that the place has a history and Cat Island is no exception. The legend says that Columbus was there originally in search of the New World.

What you can expect, and more importantly what can be expected to do during your visit to this idyllic island in the Bahamas? Well of course there are the beaches and clear waters that are absolutely perfect for snorkeling.

You can also explore the Mount Alvernia, which is the highest point in the Bahamas, all at 206 meters above sea level.

The island is named after Arthur cat who was a famous British sea captain, but some people think that the island was its name because when the English first arrived they found throughout the island populated by great hordes of wild cats! You can not do this. Legend has it that the cats were abandoned by the Spanish who were looking for gold in South America.

The whole island is only 50 miles long and four to one mile wide, so no is a big place. The first settlers arrived in 1783 and cotton plantations were built to support financially the island. You can still see the remains of the mansion original plantations and the remains of some villages of slaves.

It really is one of the most beautiful islands of the Bahamas and has many high cliffs with incredibly spectacular views and a section of the foothills dense forests.

Cat Island is definitely worth your time as a great vacation destination.
