Half Moon Cay, Bahamas in front of the Florida Keys. Help me make a decision …?
I'm looking for people with personal experience in one (or both) or after the holiday destinations: Half Moon Cay, Bahamas and / or the Florida Keys. My husband and I are 34 years of age and have a daughter 7 years old. My mother and stepfather as likely to be on a cruise with us this winter. I'm leaning towards the course on which stops at "Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas. My mom is pushing to go to the Keys. I've always kind of thought of the Keys as a vacation more appropriate to leave the elderly in a family of medium Young age (s). Maybe I'm wrong. Since its description by, not shopping, shopping and more shopping — it really is not my daughter, husband or I want to do. But my mother insists that Half Moon Cay is a private island that is only there to suck money from the tourists and the island is riden by mosquitoes. Can anyone Gove some personal experiences and opinions?
Keys on a cruise means Key West. ship docks and you can walk out. Shopping, many bars, Hemingway House, the most southerly point, KW Light House, Mel Fisher Museum, Little White House, Fort Zachary Taylor, Shell railway, cemetery Interestingly, many restaurants. Gay friendly. The beaches are not very large, many have been distributed in the sand of the Bahamas. Going to miss the festival of the sun and the nightlife because the ship leaves soon, boredom … IMO, KW is more appropriate for the 20 or so, although you can find all ages there. HMC is the Carnival / HAL 's private island. There is no basis for large vessels, have to tender in the ship. Basically a relaxing day at the beach. No shopping for anything. Very nice long beach, clear water. high chairs and beach barbecue are free. Alcohol, beach cabanas, and many activities are at additional cost. One of the most interesting trips is riding on the beach. Visited twice (October in both cases), not noticed many mosquitos, but not much shade either. Is a different day than you have in KW, not bad, just different. Check out the "ports of call" Cruise Critic boards and you will find a lot of discussion about both places.
