it would be a good area to rent for 6-9 months in Nassau, Bahamas, or the island paridise?
My husband and I are thinking of moving to the Bahamas, a Less than a year. we would not pay more than $ 2,000 a month. The budget is a stretch. We realize the drastic change in culture, but to try anything once. I have researched and realize the high crime rate, so naturally we would like somewhere safe, preferably near a store groceries. I also wonder about shopping. I do not want to bring a lot of clothes, and would like to buy cheap clothes simple there. any suggestions. From what I have found on the web there is a lot of stores for the basics there. Is this true. I also asked about transportation. Can I buy a cheap vehicle good working order, fairly easy? How about a bike? If so what is the process of getting it is legal and hae the driving permits from U.S. thanks
Before making this commitment, you should look into immigration laws in the Bahamas. As a U.S. citizen, which only allowed stay up to 90 days, and will have to prove you have the means to support themselves without being employed in the Bahamas. Some people try to quit for 24 hours and return for another extended stay, but no guarantee of being allowed to do so. (This happened to me several times in the past theh .. I had to wait 90 days before he could return again.) Resident without immigration documents (which shall not be eligible to receive), will not be able to register a car or get insurance. As for the clothes .. Most Bahamians go to Florida to the store (at the supermarket too.). Do not go shopping in the Bahamas. the quality is lacking, and prices are Christie out of control or Paradise Online Search apartment or rental house. $ 2000 is a little low, but you should be able to get something. http://www.paradisebahamas.com/
