Winter Destination dillemma?

My family and two family friends are planning a winter vacation (6 adults). We live in Toronto, Canada, and we tired of 6 months of cold, snow, ice, etc. This year we want a little sun, tan, navy, but never had a winter break and have no no idea where we go. We have 7 days around New Year out of this cold winter. We are considering the wide range of options. Or you can drive the states South-east (anywhere in SC, GA, FL, MS …) and fly to the destination even warmer (Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Bahamas, etc..) Since I have friends tagging along, the pressure is on to find a good destination. All travel information will be useful. Country / City / Town hotel / VILA / apartment / restaurant you've enjoyed or avoided altogether? Comparisons between any destination (ie, off Cancun Acapulco, etc)? Any bit would be appreciated. Thanks!

That lead to somewhere with warm beaches and sun is not a practical option in Toronto, Canada. It would take a minimum two days straight through driving each way. That's more than half of their lost holiday sitting in a car. Boracay beach in the Philippines is welcome that season. It is a great tropical destination with a good exchange rate to give the most from your hard earned $. Boracay Regency Hotel is right on the beach with half types of road and an excellent location. If not I suggest you visit www.wowphilippines.com and pick another good place. The natives are friendly and speak English.
