Is it better to go with a travel agent or the company itself when going on a cruise?
My wife and I are willing to take a cruise to the Bahamas and Mexico. Not sure if it was better to go through a travel agent or cruise line royal. We found cheap tickets on Expedia and other similar sites, but never have been on a cruise. Can someone please give me your experiences?
I've been on 14 cruises and have never booked directly with the cruise line. This is what I do and I always save money … 1. Be flexible. Always book well in advance, try to cruise in other periods of Christmas, New Year breaks March so on. 2. Start at CruiseValue.com and search for fares and score two or three cruisers who cares 3. With this information, go to CruiseCompete.com and fill your desired form for your cruise. If you have not registered you can register for free Cruise Compete. 4. Within minutes you will receive competitive quotes emailed to a wide range of wholesale travel companies and cruise cruise. 5. Contact the company with the lowest rate and ask if there is a cancellation fee after and if they say no then I proceed to "book your cruise with them.
