People that say you must have a passport anytime you go out of the country are just plain wrong. Under some circumstances you do not need a passport. If you are going on a “loop” cruise that begins and ends in the same U.S. port, you do not need a passport…no matter where it goes. if you are going on a cruise that ends in a different port , then you need one. it is advisable to have one.
